About Anxious Travelling
This site was created after suffering many bouts of anxiety whilst travelling, which can really impact the enjoyment of a trip. It’s often to do with things such as catching buses, trains or working out how to get to and from the airport.
I find that the best things to help me with this is carrying out lots of research before a trip, and working out best options and fall-back plans incase something goes wrong. There is a lot of information online, but this is often sporadic, hidden behind registrations or lacks detail. Sometimes you will just read ‘get a bus from the bus station’ – but an anxious traveller might be looking for how to get to the bus stop, where to buy tickets, what time does the bus board to reduce the potential for worrying.
I began making lots of notes when on my journeys, writing down what stressed me out and how it was resolved and have now created this site to share this learning with others.
The goal of this site is to provide detailed, honest and unbiased guides and advice for airports and locations globally. For a guide to be made I personally have to have spent a decent bit of time there. I don’t review places or restaurants just as it is so subjective and there are already a wealth of people who do that much better than I ever could.
Who is Anxious Travelling for?
You don’t need to suffer from anxiety, or assign yourself any labels to hopefully find these guides useful. They’re for anyone who just wants to be as prepared as possible before and during a trip so you can relax whilst there, spend less time worrying and enjoy as stress free travelling experience as possible. You don’t need to suffer from an anxiety or any condition to be able to get some help from these tips. There are often many travel tips that those not used to an area or don’t travel frequently can find helpful on this site.
About the author
I have been lucky enough to spend my life travelling around the world, being born in Australia but frequently moving from there and the UK during childhood, and during my life have managed to travel to almost 40 countries across 5 continents.
I work in digital marketing for a sports and apparel company in Bristol and use as much of my spare time as possible travelling to destinations across Europe and further afield. Anxious Travelling is a great way to practice my skills and share knowledge gained whilst exploring the globe. There are many more posts and articles planned so if you find the site useful do follow me on social media where the latest updates will be posted.
It’s important to share that I am a white, cis-male and therefore am likely to get a much easier experience when travelling than others. As these guides progress I will share experiences from other groups of people and try and make this site as inclusive as possible.
